About Us
We re a couple of journalists who will circle the world for one year beginning February 2010.
Mojotrotters was born of a humble mission: create the most interesting bilingual multimedia travel blog ever made. Yes, travel blogging gets a bad rap, mostly because so much of it is tragically narcissistic. Instead of transporting the reader to foreign lands, it becomes a dry register of “look where I’ve been.”
Our goal, as trained journalists, is to bring places to life through the lens of our experience, using words, videos, sounds, and photos.
Why the name? Way back in the middle of the last decade, when newspapers were starting to discover this thing called the Internet, some enterprising outlets experimented with untethered reporters. They worked out of their cars, armed with video cameras, voice recorders and a laptop, feeding a constant stream of multimedia local news to the mother ship.
They called these reporters mojos. Mobile journalists. That’s exactly what we’re doing. Except our mother ship is this blog.

Roberto
Roberto’s notion of home can be thus rendered: if you can lie on it and it feels peaceful, it’s probably home. A child of roving diplomats, he lived in vastly different cultures, taking in a bit of each but never fully assimilating in any. This only aggravated his inherent curiosity for the new.
That’s also why he became a journalist. But after four very fulfilling years of covering business and technology, he felt the lust for novelty once again and decided to quench it.
When not working he’s a cook, a dancer, a couchsurfer, and an occasional percussionist. Born in Brazil, he also lived in the United States, Hungary, and Canada. He’s 30 years old.

Bianca
Bianca was killing the idle minutes online when she learned that depression is a possible side effect on the traveler who comes home after a long journey around the world. In that moment it became clear that such an experience, as crushing as the ache of mourning or a broken heart, must absolutely be felt.
For her this will be a slow-cooked trip, not simply a collection passport stamps, and its main destination are the hearts and souls of the people she encounters. Also, the occasional stop at a warm beach or two, because nobody’s a robot.
Bianca, a 28-year old Brazilian, has lived in Montreal for the last five. She’s a psychotherapist, an advertiser, a journalist, a couchsurfer, and a wayfarer.
