I thought we had a good chance

So we didn’t win the Australian Van-Tastic contest. We fought hard, but we didn’t win.

It was a long shot. We learned about the contest a week before the submission deadline. We only started working on our application video three days before. We thought we did a pretty good job, all things considered.

Some background:

The Australian government, showing once again remarkable creativity in promoting tourism to its country, sponsored a competition in which the winner gets six weeks in a camper van to travel around a specified Australian state. The winners’ only responsibility is to blog about it.

They are picking seven teams of travelers, one for each state. We applied for the Northern Territory.

This was our submission video:

Not bad, huh? But we must concede, the winners’ entry was very good. Undeniably creative and well produced.

And so our trip is back to status quo.

There’s still one last leg of the contest, in Western Australia.

Yes, we’ll be contenders once again.

Let us thank Romina Hernandez for being an incredible cameralady and extra, and Jeff Blond, who generously lent us his voice of doom.
