Loving BC seafood with Bob Blumer

Bob Blumer is a madman, and therefore, my favourite TV chef. So when we were invited to an event promoting BC tourism with him as host, we had no choice but to go.

He didn’t cook anything, which was a disappointment. But thanks to him, we learned what a geoduck is and that Hollandaise sauce is a perfect condiment for oysters.

And we saw that B.C. makes some pretty mean microbrewed beers and ciders. So the media event to which we were invited did its job: we’re convinced BC is serious about food.

Here are some photos from the event.

Bob and me: Like Barry White fathered thousands of children, Blumer has been responsible for many memorable dinner parties. He liked hearing this.

  1. Too bad about the Australian contest. Do you think it was fair? I would like to see the winner’s output. They will be attacked by salt water crocodiles during their trip. They will barely scape just to be arrested by a band of rogue kangaroos.

  2. Ah, this brought back memories. Of living in Vancouver (where I was for 8 years) and the incredible sushi there. And, of my second PR job where Bob Blumer was good friends with my boss, and a regular fixture in our office and at events (long before he was a fixture on TV). See Roberto? The planet can be a very small place :)

  3. Hello Aftab, thank you a lot for your comment! Uh it soduns really like a difficult thing to get the Pakistan Visa from any other place than home. We will try again in Kyrgyzstan anyway, maybe we will be more lucky. Because I would really really like to cycle the Karakoram Highway and get to know a part of this country and it’s people.I really hope we can make it. Have a great day! Annika
